Our local woods are full of things to learn, and places to explore, so how better to experience them than have an expert guide us around them? We were going to Thornton Woods to learn more about nature and our local environment, because even in the cold of winter, life is always around us. Even though the ground was draped in frost, the whole school was determined to have a good time.

When we arrived at the entrance to the woods, we met our guide, Alistair. Then we ventured into them and walked along a lonely woodland trail, towards a path of trees where “base one” was located. Alistair told us a few facts and then moved on. When we came to “Base two” we played a game called Tree Demons with pinecones and then set off for home.

I definitely enjoyed the experience and look forward to going to the woods again next week to learn more interesting facts about the environment all around us!
