Welcome

Welcome to the St Matthew’s Primary School website. We hope that the website will give you an insight into life at our school. Please check our twitter feed to see what we are up to on a day to day basis.

St Matthew’s Primary School is a small school with big dreams. We are a welcoming school community, where we place a strong emphasis on caring for, supporting and challenging each other.

The learners at St Matthew’s are happy and enthusiastic and have a natural love of learning. They describe our school as a family, together we can achieve more.

At St Matthew’s we aspire to create an outstanding positive ethos based on the Gospel Values and respect for all. We provide a safe learning environment that encourages learners to discover and challenge their thinking. Through high quality learning and teaching we will promote curiosity and ignite a passion for life-long learning, developing independent learners who embrace challenge enthusiastically. We endeavour to ensure our learners develop their skills and confidence and reach their full potential in preparation for the future.

We provide an interesting, stimulating curriculum that responds to the needs of different learning styles and learners’ different needs. You can find out more about the curriculum by clicking on our learning page. The school serves the Rosewell and wider community, with learners from all cultures and faiths, which brings a richness to school life – this is highly valued and is celebrated both in the curriculum and in school life.

We believe that parental partnership is vital to ensuring the well being and academic success of pupils. Parents are an essential component of our school community.  Please have a look at the Parents Council page to see how you can contribute to school life and how the school can support you.

Hopefully this website will answer many of the questions you may have about the school, but if you have anything further you wish to discuss please don’t hesitate to contact us.
